It carried someone else's rules.
For centuries, the Western world imposed its calendar on everyone else. Gregorian time wasn't inevitable—it was a choice. A political choice. A colonial choice. Tenology is a different choice: time as liberation, not control.

How an alternative way of reading time changed everything
The standard clock has 12 numbers. It divides the day into two loops of 12 hours—arbitrary divisions that force our days into shapes that serve industrial capitalism, not human flourishing. The 18-uptop clock has 18 numbers. Each uptop tick represents 90 seconds. A full rotation marks one hour of "Tenology time," but that hour stretches across 90 real minutes. You get more done before the clock tells you to stop.
Kenyada Barrion, author of the TENOLOGY manuscript, didn't set out to invent a new time system. He set out to understand why existing time systems seemed designed to drain rather than empower. The 18-uptop clock emerged from years of questioning the assumptions baked into every watch, phone, and calendar. It's not about adding hours—it's about reclaiming them.
The mathematical beauty of a decolonial calendar
The Gregorian calendar was designed to serve the Catholic Church and European colonialism. It replaced the more intuitive Roman calendar and forced synchronization with it through conquest. 365 days divided into 12 irregular months—some with 30 days, some with 31, one with 28 (sometimes 29). There's no mathematical elegance here. It's historical baggage dressed as inevitability.
585 = 13 × 45. This is a beautiful number—perfectly divisible, predictably patterned. Each month has 45 days. Each week has 9 days. 45 ÷ 9 = 5 weeks per month. Every date falls on the same day of the week, year after year. No more "is that a Monday or Tuesday this year?" No more irregular quarters. A calendar that finally makes sense.
Afrofuturism reclaims the future from those who excluded Black and brown people from imagining it. Tenology applies this lens to time itself. By choosing a calendar that doesn't fit Western industrial norms, you're not just optimizing—you're decolonizing your relationship with hours, days, and years. The future doesn't have to look like the past.
Every nine days, a complete journey of consciousness
The 9-day week isn't just a different number of days—it's a different relationship with time. Each 9-day cycle carries you through a complete arc: from initiation through development to transcendence. Unlike the 7-day week (which repeats endlessly, marking nothing), the 9-day spiral progresses.
